The Growing Green Co-op and Alchemy Cafe support individuals in making life choices that promote health and well being in all aspects of their lives. If you desire a more healthful and conscious way of life, want more energy and vitality, want to learn about environmentally friendly cuisine, and the benefits of raw organic foods for your health and for the planet, then come check out what we are up to! A diet that includes whole, ripe, raw organic fruits and vegetables, sprouted nuts, seeds, and grains can greatly contribute to achieving optimum health. Organically grown raw and living foods provide high-quality nutrition while naturally supporting both proper digestion and a well-functioning immune system. Eating these life-giving foods helps to alkalize the body, a key factor in building excellent health. When the body is in an alkaline state, it is better able both to absorb nutrients and to expel toxins more efficiently. The SAD (Standard American Diet) of meat, bread, dairy products, processed/cooked foods, caffeine, and alcohol creates an acidic state in the body, which contributes to a variety of health problems.

Food Security is the foremost issue behind the co-op. It is our intention not only to educate others about the importance and health benefits of eating nutritionally dense foods but also providing access to them. We are currently working on projects such as:
- purchasing a 30 year organic farm ALCHEMY ACRES in Glastonbury to serve as a model for growing nutrient dense food and permaculture practices as well as expanding our wellness programs and launch our local live product line
- growing our own food that will engage and inspire youth in our URBAN PERMADISE adjacent to our cafe & co-op
- offering hands-on food preparation and gardening classes (see our calendar for dates)
- provide the most relevant and essential information to consumers, growers and producers of food
- launching a state-wide delivery of organic, local and nutrient dense foods
In addition, we are staunch supporters of The Real Food Campaign and production of high BRIX foods.
Nutrient Dense Food Workshop Series

As part of our Sustainable Living Series, please welcome long-time organic farmer and the Director of The Real Food Campaign, Dan Kittredge, as he discusses the secret of improved health & vitality: high BRIX foods. Dan joins us for a six-workshop series on growing high BRIX foods through the practice and implementation of nutrient dense crop production. Open to both backyard growers and professional farmers, these workshops include information, techniques, tools, and support necessary to become a producer of cutting-edge maximum quality nutrient dense crops in the Northeast.
Workshops will be held at The Growing Green Wellness Center in Hartford or at Udderly Wooly Farm in Glastonbury. See brochure for workshop dates.
